A huge thank you to everyone who help us throughout the RACV Energy Breakthrough. A massive thank you to all the parents for all their help and the time they gave up during our meetings and the time away in Maryborough.
Our last event for the weekend a 50m shuttle relay. We were put up against a team of giants which had chased the entire length of the time trial. The possums were very nervous and thought we’d get beaten. However our quick change overs saw us win by half a length. I don’t think many people in the crowd walked away with any voice.
With 30min to rebuild the possum we had plenty of time to spare completing the task in just under 10min. The team were able to impress the judge by changing tasks throughout their presentation demonstrating they could complete any task to rebuild the cart.
This year the endurance race format was changed to a time trial. With teams leaving 30 seconds after each other. The possums left fourth and came home fourth. A fantastic run!
After many lunch rehearsals and a nervous presentation in front of the entire school today we presented our play to the judges. They were very impressed by our knowledge of the cart and smiled at out “knees, elbow pads, gloves and a helmet song” and “were fit and we know it poses”. Once again a fantastic effort leave us all feeling proud of our efforts.
Today the possums raced the obstacle course in 3.21mins. A great effort considering the difficulty of the track. The track first began on grass which made the pushing difficult, then down a small slope of asphalt. Then came the most difficult task a slalom track on a hill which meant not only did you have to dodge the cones of the track but also contest with the ascent and decent of the hill. It then a quick sprint across the grass with a drift around a cone before we swapped and did it all over again four times.
Great work Possums!
Yeah we can now race the possum
This our home away from home whilst at the RACV challenge our site is site 12 with the bikes near the gate.
